On 23 May 2025, 46 Black women and allies from the UK and the US gathered in Accra to mark the fifth anniversary of George Floyd's murder, and to establish the Accra Principles.
We travelled together as politicians, lawyers, entrepreneurs, clinicians, academics, philanthropists and trailblazers. Over five days, the experiences we shared deepened our connections, sparked reflection and left us with a profound appreciation of Ghana's heritage.

Over £8,000 raised on the tour will be distributed to charities and initiatives across Ghana.

Declaration Day
The official recital and declaration of the Accra Principles at the grounds of the British High Commission, with the group dressed in lime green.

Declaration Day.
On 28 May 2025, in honour of the 80th birthday of our founders Christine and Dyann's late mother, Justice Irismay, we declared the International Day for the Protection of Black Women and Girls.
Dressed in lime green, the group heard a recital and the official declaration of the Accra Principles at the grounds of the British High Commission. The Principles were signed in the presence of Diane Abbott MP, Mother of the House, Dawn Butler MP and Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP, with a call for all Black women and girls to be protected and treated equitably.
About the international dayThere aren't words to describe the profound impact that the various activities had on all attendees. There was laughter, dancing, tears and many more emotions experienced through this very deep and reflective but also joyous experience.
